Is it allowed to bring lunch items on board Eurostar to the UK?

We have a journey booked for this Sunday to London using the Eurostar. I just received a message that there will be a (temporary) ban on bringing meat and dairy products into the UK. See https://www.gov.uk/bringing-food-into-great-britain/meat-dairy-fish-animal-products

Assuming I would want to bring lunch items that would include meat, milk and/or cheese, how far can I bring it?

I could imagine three options:

• The station where we board the Eurostar, i.e. Rotterdam (I think this is where we have to pass through customs)
• Somewhere midway in the channel tunnel, at the physical border of the UK
• Disembarkment in London St. Pancras station

Would we be allowed to bring our lunch on board the train, if we were to consume all of it before entering the UK? Or would we risk our lunch being confiscated at the customs check?

The message from Eurostar is not very specific. Their 'contact us' is reporting that they are very busy and can only respond to the most urgent questions, so therefore I am asking my question here.

I have used the Eurostar after the no-meat rules started, I joined the train in Amsterdam and had bought food for the journey before entering the terminal. There was a safety check but no objections to anyone for any food they brought. After leaving the train in London you pass through a customs area but I have never seen anyone stopped for checks (although it can happen.)

In the other direction, i.e. London to the Netherlands, you will not even see the customs checkpoint. If you get off in Brussels there is a line on the ground with nothing to declare and a second opening to pass through with a red sign for you to declare items, which was very empty.

I asked someone on the train staff and they said that customs staff can enter the train in Brussels or Lille and check everybody on board but they rarely do.

In case you are not sure, the terminal areas in Amsterdam, Brussels and London surely have food for sale to eat on the spot or take onto the train, I have never used the Rotterdam one, so do not know whether you can buy food there.

As the checks are in London on arrival and after reaching Belgium in the other direction, you can bring enough to eat in the train at least.
